When I was working I frequently received (and collected) pearls of wisdom in the form of leaflets. This was one such.
This is a little story about four people named
Everybody, Somebody, Anybody and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and
Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that
because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it,
but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody
when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.
It is evident from the content of this issue of Pivot that no such attitudes prevail here. Teamwork and co-operation are celebrated throughout, be it in our worship, pastoral caring, outreach programme, interaction with the wider community or connection with others.
That is not to say we can rest on our laurels or let our guard down. Everybody has a role to play and nobody can do everything. We all have a responsibility to enable, allow and encourage each person to make their contribution as part of the team.
We hope you enjoy this issue and look forward to receiving any comments you may wish to make.
